2019 Racing season begins … easing back to the trails

Saturday January 26 , 2019 .. the first race for my season . My feet had finally recovered from my 50 miler in December . I knew I needed a break from running after that and then something small to ease back into “official training ” . Shelby Park Trails 8 miler seemed to be a good starting point. It was a nice jump back on the dirt and I had fun . It was a small race with less than a 100 runners and everyone had a great time .

My next race was Feb 2nd at Turkey Run Trail Bash 5 miler. A little slippery getting to the race , iced fog had set in . Once there , racers were set off in 2 waves and I just stayed in the back of the pack . I just enjoyed this race and could care less about my pace . ( I was also running with a broken?? toe or just severely jammed from kicking a frozen log the weekend before ) I worked on my intervals and just relaxed for 5 miles in the woods . Another perfect run for me and my start to 2019 .

Welcome to the life of JanuaryRunr11

I am first a wife and a mother to 2 children. Second , I am a 50 year old Masters Athlete trying to figure out what I am capable in my fitness journey. I am a weekend warrior runner on the trails and roads. I am a crossfitter during the week.

I have trained for a variety of races , trail and road races. My recent long distance race was a 50 mile trail . It was the hardest and most thrilling race I have ever completed . Who can say they had a blast for 20 hrs in the forest with mud , rain , mud and more mud ? I had such a great time that I have signed up to do a 100 miler on the same course this December 2019.

My current race calendar hosts 5ks, half marathons ,and Endurance race , a 50K and my Hundo . This 2019 journey is going to be AMAZING.
